Pastoral care is an ancient model of emotional and spiritual support that can be found in all cultures and traditions. It has been described in our modern context as individual and corporate patience in which trained pastoral carers to support people in their pain, loss and anxiety, and their triumphs, joys, and victories.
REQUIREMENTS
- Documentation including your transcripts, Five CXC CSEC, GCE, and City and Guilds level 3 or equivalent including English Language and Math certificate, reference, health form, two passport size pictures will need to be submitted to the admissions team.
- All students must register in person during the scheduled registration times. Registration fees and outstanding tuition balances must be paid before students are permitted to attend class

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. Psychology is a multifaceted discipline and includes many sub-fields of study such areas as human development, sports, health, clinical, social behavior and cognitive processes.
ABOUT COURSE
At Midland Bible Institute (MBI) the Psychology programme is crafted to offer students the opportunity for personal growth and to study the discipline from a Christian worldview. Psychology, true to its origin, (Greek “psyche”) is the study of the soul, and no worldview other than Christianity has truer insight into the spiritual realm.
Some courses include Basic skills in counseling, Developmental psychology, Human sexuality, Personality dynamics and Individual differences. The programme is a great way to learn more about yourself and other people, allow you to make a difference in people’s lives also open the door to a variety of careers.

We believe that Theology affects our day-to-day lives and plays a major part in national and global events. Therefore the programme with its composite courses is taught for the shaping of values and the honing of skillful integration and application of biblical truths and principles to affect positive change personally, in the home as well as in the community. The B.A. in Theology is designed to give students the opportunity to study a range of disciplines for academic advancement, spiritual formation, and vocational preparation for a range of Christian ministries. It provides students with a theological foundation that fosters a Biblical worldview approach to life and work. The programme also aims to provide a broad foundation for further studies, which will equip students either for an academic career in theology or for service in one of a number of other relevant ministries. The syllabus includes biblical studies, biblical languages, church history, spiritual formation, theology, conflict management, psychology, sociology, counseling, and other vocational skills.
ABOUT COURSE
At Midland Bible Institute (MBI) we believe theological reflection is a way of examining all aspects of life based on God’s revelation of Himself as recorded in Scripture. The programme is, therefore, designed for such reflection and to equip students for Christian ministries in a real-world context. The overall goal is to produce persons of integrity with clear biblical worldview and leadership skills anchored in who God is. The role they are being prepared for include: Pastor, evangelist. Christian education director, Counsellor, Youth worker, Religious Knowledge teacher, Cross-cultural missionary.
Aim: The composite courses and practical training aim to develop in students the necessary skills to respond to the needs in Church for effective biblical teaching, spiritual leadership, guidance, and pastoral care; and for providing their community with spiritual and moral support by acting as mentors and mediators for peace and development
Career Opportunities – Pastor, Chaplain, Christian Education Ministry, Cross-cultural missionary, Guidance Counsellor, Human Resource, Life Coach, Religious education and Social studies Teacher, Victim Support, and Youth Ministry, Lecturer. Students who have completed the Theology programme have gone on to do graduate level studies in the areas of Administration, Apologetics, Counselling Psychology, Linguistics, Social Work, Special education, Professor of Theology.
Credits: 128 Credit Hours 150 hours of practical training
Length of programme – 4 years full-time or part-time (6 years). This may be reduced if the applicant has certification at the level of CAPE/A' Levels and higher

Philosophy of the Chaplaincy Program
The Bachelor’s Degree in Chaplaincy at Midland Bible Institute is designed to prepare students for compassionate and effective ministry in diverse environments, including hospitals, military, prisons, schools, and community services. The program aims to equip students with the necessary theological, psychological, and counselling knowledge to serve as spiritual leaders, offering pastoral care and guidance while maintaining a deep understanding of human psychology and wellbeing. This holistic approach ensures that chaplains are not only spiritually grounded but also emotionally and mentally equipped to address the complex needs of those they serve.
The Chaplaincy program combines theological studies with psychological principles, counselling techniques, and practical ministry skills. By blending these fields, we prepare students to work effectively in both faith-based and secular settings. Students will be trained to offer spiritual support while understanding and addressing the emotional and psychological aspects of care.

Total Credits: 30 (10 courses × 3 credits)
Duration: 1 year full-time (3 semesters) or 18–24 months part-time.
The Advanced Certificate in School Counselling is designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree and desire specialized professional development in the theory and practice of school counselling without pursuing another full degree. This program provides advanced training in counselling skills, child and adolescent development, behavioural interventions, and ethical practices needed to support students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Graduates will be equipped to serve in Christian and secular educational settings, community agencies, or church-based ministries that support children and youth.
