Bachelor of Art in Theology
We believe that Theology affects our day-to-day lives and plays a major part in national and global events. Therefore the programme with its composite courses is taught for the shaping of values and the honing of skillful integration and application of biblical truths and principles to affect positive change personally, in the home as well as in the community. The B.A. in Theology is designed to give students the opportunity to study a range of disciplines for academic advancement, spiritual formation, and vocational preparation for a range of Christian ministries. It provides students with a theological foundation that fosters a Biblical worldview approach to life and work. The programme also aims to provide a broad foundation for further studies, which will equip students either for an academic career in theology or for service in one of a number of other relevant ministries. The syllabus includes biblical studies, biblical languages, church history, spiritual formation, theology, conflict management, psychology, sociology, counseling, and other vocational skills.
ABOUT COURSE
At Midland Bible Institute (MBI) we believe theological reflection is a way of examining all aspects of life based on God’s revelation of Himself as recorded in Scripture. The programme is, therefore, designed for such reflection and to equip students for Christian ministries in a real-world context. The overall goal is to produce persons of integrity with clear biblical worldview and leadership skills anchored in who God is. The role they are being prepared for include: Pastor, evangelist. Christian education director, Counsellor, Youth worker, Religious Knowledge teacher, Cross-cultural missionary.
Aim: The composite courses and practical training aim to develop in students the necessary skills to respond to the needs in Church for effective biblical teaching, spiritual leadership, guidance, and pastoral care; and for providing their community with spiritual and moral support by acting as mentors and mediators for peace and development
Career Opportunities – Pastor, Chaplain, Christian Education Ministry, Cross-cultural missionary, Guidance Counsellor, Human Resource, Life Coach, Religious education and Social studies Teacher, Victim Support, and Youth Ministry, Lecturer. Students who have completed the Theology programme have gone on to do graduate level studies in the areas of Administration, Apologetics, Counselling Psychology, Linguistics, Social Work, Special education, Professor of Theology.
Credits: 128 Credit Hours 150 hours of practical training
Length of programme – 4 years full-time or part-time (6 years). This may be reduced if the applicant has certification at the level of CAPE/A' Levels and higher
REQUIREMENTS
- 5 CSEC (CXC) or 5 GCE or the equivalent (SSC, Certificate, etc.); English Language is compulsory (Grade I or II required).
- City and Guild level 3
- Documentation including your transcripts, Five CXC CSEC, GCE, and City and Guilds level 3 or equivalent including English Language and Math certificate, reference, health form, two passport size pictures will need to be submitted to the admissions team.
All applicant to the BA Theology Programme must be a born-again Christian for at least one year and member of a church.
